Was the founder of the poinsettia a female or a male?
Pointettias weren't 'invented' by anyone. They are named after Joel Roberts Poinsett (a guy, by the way), the first United States ambassador to Mexico, who introduced the plant in the U.S. in 1825. Poinsettias (Euphorbia pulcherrima) are flowers native to the Pacific coast of Mexico, some parts of central southern Mexico, and a few localities in Guatemala.

You may be thinking of different TYPES of pointsettias, which there are several. There are different ways to breed your pointsettia, and there is a a family that came up with a secret to creating a desirable form of the plant. Until 19 years ago, the Paul Ecke Family of Encinitas, California, had a virtual monopoly on poinsettias owing to a technological secret that made it difficult for others to compete. The key to producing more desirable poinsettias is to create a fuller, more compact plant. A poinsettia left to grow on its own will naturally take an open, somewhat weedy look. The Eckes' technique, which involved grafting two varieties of poinsettia together, made it possible to get every seedling to branch, resulting in a bushier plant. However, about 10 years ago, a university researcher discovered the phenomenon and published it; now the technique is widespread.
Reply:the person who named the flower was a guy, Poinsett
Reply:God did create them and they are native to Mexico and central America.

A Man brought them to the US

Facts about the Poinsettia

They were brought back to the US in 1835 by Dr. J.R. Poinsett .

Very interesting legends and facts in link above.
Reply:God - Male
Reply:The founder of knowlege says that they weren't founded.
Reply:God....therefore he is a male.
Reply:I'm not quite sure I really understand the question, but I'd say male. This site: http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/poinsettia/... says it was named "poinsettia" by William Prescott after Joel Roberts Poinsett..
